The mix of native beliefs and Catholicism has revealed daily ethnos living in Atitlan’s surroundings, northwest of the Kaqchikel and southeast of the Tz’utujil.

Roughly 85.000 years the region of Atitlan’s lake experienced a powerful and brutal cataclysm creating a large crater.

San Pedro’s, Toliman’s, and Atitlan’s volcanoes formed 60.000 years after, providing origin to Atitlan’s lake.

Some activities can be practiced within this privileged location, like Nature hikes, birding, aquatic activities, and cultural immersion.

Panajachel, San Marcos la Laguna, Santa Cruz la Laguna, San Pedro la Laguna, and Santiago, to mention a number of the locations that provide a fantastic experience with multicolored markets with a range of earthenware, wood, and textiles.

Transfer from Your Hotel to the Helipad area.

You will take off from La Aurora International Airport or Antigua Guatemala, heading towards the northwest.

Through a bird’s-eye view, you can enjoy the magnificent panorama over the cultivation fields, patches of oak-pine forest, and villages forming the Guatemalan highlands landscape.

On our arrival, the unique and spectacular landscape welcomes us with fantastic views of picturesque villages surrounded by impressive volcanoes.

After landing,  you will take a boat ride to San Juan La Laguna and Santiago villages to visit the women’s textile cooperative.

Here, you will discover ancestral hand-weaving techniques and the natural dye and learn about textiles, beliefs, and spiritualism of the T’zutujil Maya people.

Landing at the lake

After visiting these magnificent villages, you will return to board the copter towards Antigua Guatemala, or Guatemala City.

After this cultural immersion in the Mayan villages, we take off towards the west, starting the flight over San Jorge La Laguna and going around watching the volcanoes from the air.

The scenic trip lasts approximately 12 minutes, arriving at San Miguel Dueñas.

From here, you will be able to observe the Atacatenango and fire volcanoes, then a 360 is made in the area, and you get to the side of the Agua volcano towards La Antigua Guatemala or the Aurora airport in Guatemala City.
